About

Welcome!
Welcome to Vintage Bytes! I’m Andy Wightwick - a tech enthusiast with over three decades of experience in information technology, tackling complex challenges in business and government sectors. Here, we’re demystifying technology by bringing it out of the office and into our daily lives.
Vintage Bytes explores how yesterday’s innovations shaped today’s world and how they can inspire the future. My mission is to bridge the gap between old-school tech and cutting-edge innovation, empowering minds of all ages to discover that with technology, the world is accessible and knowable.
Let’s dive into the stories, lessons, and hidden gems of our technological past to build a brighter, smarter future- one byte at a time!

Statement of Humility
Teaching and learning are a balance between self-confidence and humility. Vintage Bytes was created as a passion project and meant to inspire future generations to feel confident experimenting with technology.
Experimenting is never linear, and it’s our aim to show how even an ‘expert’ may need to problem solve, think creatively, pivot, and fail forward— to quote Einstein, “You never fail until you stop trying.”
While we may be knowledgeable in many topics discussed on the site, we will also be experimenting and learning together on other topics. We humbly recognize that there are experts who may know more, have already solved for our problem, or created a better solution. We welcome their supportive and friendly comments and feedback as a part of the community learning process we aim to foster.
